Cody Needs a New Home

Cody is looking for a fabulous new home! He is not an apartment/condo dog. He is a sweetheart with a huge personality. His breed is your best guess (I’m thinking Gordon Setter/Australian Shepherd). Cody has a good amount of energy which makes him the perfect jogging buddy. I’ve known him for 4 years and would take him in a second if my dog wasn’t in her golden years (is spoiled).
Cody needs to be the only pet in the house. He is not great with cats and prefers to have all of your attention.
Email me at lisa -at- dogsonthehill.com if you are interested. He comes with lots of toys and advice. I’ll even throw in some training sessions and a couple walks if you’re interested (training is a must for any new dog- it creates that important bond much quicker).

Pet Sitters International Assists with Japan Relief Efforts

There are many reasons Dogs on the Hill chose Pet Sitters International as our professional organization. PSI has just added one more reason to the list! In a press release today, PSI has stated that they will be making a donation to World Vets to assist with disaster relief efforts in Japan.

“The donated funds were raised at PSI’s annual charity auction during its 2011 Quest for Excellence convention in New Orleans, Louisiana. In light of the disaster in Japan, half of the auction proceeds originally allotted for PSI’s Early Education Program, which provides age-appropriate pet-related books for elementary school libraries, was reallocated for World Vets.”

World Vets deployed their volunteers immediately following the earthquake and tsunami is Japan. They’ve been caring for lost and hurt pets and even coordinating several pet/owner reunions.
You can continue to follow World Vet’s progress in Japan on their Facebook page.

The Big Climb

The Big Climb is happening right now up the Columbia Tower- 69 flights. 1311 steps. 788 feet of vertical elevation. The Big Climb is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Washington/Alaska Chapter’s largest fundraiser. All proceeds go towards LLS’ mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
Our friends at Seattle Veterinary Specialists sent a group to the top to raise awareness for lymphoma in dogs and cats.  They surpassed their fund-raising goal of $1000 by raising $1385.  You have until April 8 to make a donation.

Two Dogs Affected by the Tsunami

Dogs are just incredible. A camera crew came across two dogs affected by the tsunami in Japan. One dog is injured so his best friend stayed by his side. If you’re in a good place to shed some tears, please watch this video. Thousands of pets have been displaced and need help. World Vets has already sent a group to Japan but need more donations. You can help here. For updates on their work, check out their Facebook page.

Following filming, the camera crew took the injured dog to a vet and found a temporary home for the caretaker.
